📖 The BCS Scale

Vet Body Condition Score Explained

The BCS 9-point scale (Nestlé Purina) rates from 1 (very thin) to 9 (severely obese). An ideal score is 4 or 5 out of 9.

Studies show lean dogs live up to 2 years longer than overweight dogs of the same breed.

🔎 At-Home Check

Run thumbs along the spine and fingers along the ribcage with light pressure. You should feel each rib easily. Check monthly.
